Josh + Jordyn – Playa Del Carmen, Mexico Destination Wedding

I first met Josh and Jordyn when I did a model call looking for an adventurous couple who love to travel and aren’t shy in front of the camera. This is exactly who these two are and I’m so happy they submitted an application. Our first session was in Hocking Hills and it was just as dreamy as you can imagine. I’ll have to go back and blog that session soon!

You can only guess my excitement when they told me they were getting married in Mexico and wanted me to be there for their big day. If I could be a full-time destination wedding photographer, I would. I could go on about how beautiful it was, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Kelsey + Will | Batch 154 Wedding – Pontiac Michigan Wedding

If you love city vibes, rooftop views, eclectic decor, fall colors, and horror movies, you’re going to want to stick around for this one. Hi! I’m Jenay and I am a Metro-Detroit Wedding Photographer who loves story-telling and would love to share Kelsey and Will’s outdoor fall wedding with you!

Venue: Batch 154
DJ: Mike Staff Productions
Wedding Dress: Justin AlexanderBombshell Bridal Boutique
Custom Shoes: Converse
Makeup Artist: Devin To

The Details

From the custom Converse with their wedding date to the perfectly Kelsey handkerchief saying “Keep Your Shit Together”, every detail seamlessly complimented their unique vibe.

The First Look

This first look will go down in history as one of my favorites. Their wedding happened to fall on Halloween weekend so Kelsey decided to have some fun with it. While Will waited anxiously with butterflies in his stomach, Michael Myers was getting ready to give him a scare he wouldn’t soon forget. See for yourself.

After everyone had a good laugh, then it was time real first look. And from that point on, the waterworks began and set the tone for one of the most emotional weddings I have ever photographed. The rooftop at Batch 154 makes for the perfect spot to have a romantic first look.

The Wedding Party

This was one of the most eclectic groups of people in terms of personalities. We had such a good time walking around downtown Pontiac. I have to admit, I hadn’t photographed down there in a while and I was absolutely in love with the charm and artistic graffiti everywhere.

The Ceremony

Grab the tissues, you have been warned.

The Reception

Around every corner was another nod at Kelsey and Will’s love for music. The record decor was used for the seating chart, table numbers and, my personal favorite, the guest book.

This wedding was full of happy tears and so much love. Thank you Kelsey and Will for letting me be part of your day! You guys rock!!

Josh + Melissa- San Marino Club Wedding- Troy, Michigan.

2017-03-09_0053

Josh and Melissa are absolutely adorable together. They share a big passion for running- so much so that they incorporated it into their wedding day and Josh even says that running had a part in how he fell in love with Melissa.

From Josh: “Melissa & I share a love of running. I fell in love during our first winter of long run Sunday’s together. We spent many hours on backroads and metro parks.”

We started the day off at Melissa’s parents’ house where the girls were getting ready. It was a beautiful Fall day outside!

2017-03-09_0039

Melissa was stunning in her fitted lace dress. I loved the beaded sheer sleeves. So gorgeous! The girls wore short navy dresses that flattered everyone so well!

2017-03-09_0041

Melissa’s mother allowed us to take this gorgeous chaise lounge sofa outside for some bridal portraits and we were so glad for it! How gorgeous is this bride?!

2017-03-09_0043

Josh got ready with the boys at the church as they awaited the ceremony. Josh looked so handsome in his suit and we LOVED the boutonnieres!

2017-03-09_0044

The ceremony was a traditional catholic mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The look on Josh’s face as he saw his beautiful bride coming down the aisle- to die for!

2017-03-09_0045

The bouquets were handmade by the bride and her family/friends and were so stunning! The beautiful bright oranges, yellows, purples, and reds were perfect for fall and Melissa’s soft pink bouquet of dahlias was absolutely gorgeous.

2017-03-09_0047

We went to Dodge #4 State Park, a beautiful piece of property that sits along Cass Lake in Waterford to take photos. The vibrant orange leaves gave the perfect Fall look. We found numerous tall grassy fields that were the perfect backdrop!

Josh and Melissa’s love of running had to be a part of their day of course! The couple slipped out of their fancy shoes and into their favorite running shoes for some photos. So much fun!

2017-03-09_0054

Josh and Melissa’s reception decor was so adorable! Rustic fall decor of pumpkins, wood and gold were beautiful along with small hints of Michigan love!

During Josh and Melissa’s first dance, the wedding party along with other friends and family surrounded the two in a hand-held circle as they closed out their dance. So much love going around- it truly warmed the heart! Melissa mentioned it was one of her favorite parts of the day.

From the bride: “We were surrounded by our favorite people but Josh was the only one I noticed.”

Andrew + Jayme- Shepherd’s Hollow Wedding, Michigan.

2017-03-09_0038

Jayme and Andrew started as friends for years until they realized their friendship was something much bigger. After falling in love, Andrew proposed to Jayme by surprising her with a Christmas present containing an ornament saying “Will You Marry Me?” and then getting down on one knee. How romantic!!

The two were married at Shepherd’s Hollow golf course and banquet center in Clarkston, Michigan. This venue is so gorgeous! It’s revealed down a long winding drive surrounded by a forest of tall trees. The scenery was perfect on their day with the foliage being a beautiful lush green all around. We started the day off getting ready with the girls. I was in love with all of Jayme’s stunning accessories!

2017-03-09_0018

We then headed off to Shepherd’s Hollow where the girls would get dressed. Jayme looked stunning in her fit-and-flare dress with layers of swirling tulle on the bottom and the girls looked beautiful in their long pink dresses with illusion lace on top.

2017-03-09_0021

I just have to say- I LOVE navy/blue suits on grooms. It’s a change of pace most of the time and Andrew’s suit went PERFECTLY with everything about the day: the wedding party, the venue, the flowers, the reception decor. IN LOVE!

2017-03-09_0022

2017-03-09_0023

The couple expressed that the “First Look” was their favorite part of the day.

From the two:

“We loved the first look and having that intimate moment be just between us. We were able to spend a couple minutes of time just the two of us.”

Scattered rain throughout the day called for an indoor ceremony instead of celebrating outside but it didn’t matter. Everything went perfectly and was beautiful as ever! Having their friend marry the two of them was a very personal and heartfelt touch to the ceremony!

2017-03-09_0030

Jayme and Andrew did SUCH a wonderful job with their reception decor. Everything was so thought out and you could tell they did a lot of hard work! The tiny succulent place settings were one of my very favorite details along with the blue lace table runners.

2017-03-09_0033

2017-03-09_0034

The sky cleared just in time for dancing and the setting for Jayme and Andrew’s first dance was probably the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Layers of string lighting outdoors as dusk fell surrounded by gorgeous woods- jaw dropping and perfection!

Jon + Kelly- Indian Springs Metropark Wedding

2017-01-23_0006

Jon and Kelly’s wedding day at the amazingly gorgeous and scenic Indian Springs Metropark was something out of a dream. These two are so sweet and the love the exude for each other when you see them together makes you want to grab a tub of popcorn and watch all day!

Indian Springs Metropark is one our favorite locations to photograph weddings. Not only is the architecture of the wooden building filled with hundreds of enormous windows a beauty, but the grounds of the park that are filled with thousands of trees, hills, water and dreamy fields leave you wanting to photograph all day long.

Jake + Cortney- Mount Pleasant Wedding, Michigan

Walls_01

Jake and Cortney first met around the age of 13 playing kickball, but it wasn’t until Cortney began attending college at Central Michigan University that the two started seriously dating. Jake wasn’t attending CMU with Cortney, but had a close friend he would visit and begun to spend time with Cortney during his trips. When the two became serious, they would take turns driving 2.5 hours just to spend the weekends with each other! How adorable is that?!

Rob + Megan-Boulder Pointe Wedding- Oxford, Michigan

Swanson_01

Megan and Rob are a super adorable couple who met during their freshman year of college.

Swanson_02

I always love when brides switch their accessories up or add in something fun and different. In Megan’s case, her and all of her bridesmaids sported baby blue converses (Rob and his groomsmen wore orange converses as well).
