Randen + Jason

Engagement sessions are one of my favorite things to photograph.  There is just something about the love and excitement of two people promising to spend their lives together, it just makes me swoon.

Randen and Jason are getting married this August so we decided on a different season and casual look for their engagement session.  They both love motorcycles and brought along a beautiful vintage bike for the session.  I LOVE when people bring their own ideas and props that help make the session unique and personal.  Plus, who doesn’t love a vintage bike?!

With this good looking duo in front of the camera, I had a blast working with them on a beautiful fall day the “golden hour” of light.

I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.  Can’t wait for your wedding! – Jenay

John + Jennifer {Wedding} – Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer

John and Jennifer are an amazing couple that we had the opportunity to get to know.  They have a love for each other that is so strong, it can be seen with just a simple glance.  Their wedding day was amazing.  It started out with a beautiful morning with the girls getting ready at one of the bridesmaid’s houses.  Jennifer had every detail planned out.  It was perfect.

On our way to meet the guys for John and Jennifer’s first look, it started to rain.  And it rained hard.  Some people would have been in a panic at this point.  All of the pictures were planned for outside at a beautiful park.  But they both kept their cool.  It didn’t matter about the rain.  We waited it out and soon enough, it stopped.  Then it was time for the fun to begin.  I absolutely love their first look moment which you will see below.

The ceremony was amazing.  I absolutely adore photographing in old churches.  And it doesn’t get much better than this one!

The reception was nothing short of a blast.  The father of the groom has been in a band for years and they were awesome! Between the band, choreographed dancing from the wedding party and the sparklers, I will always remember this wedding.

2014 Wrap Up

I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know each and every one of you along with all of your friends and family.  It’s truly amazing that I get to call this my job!

There are so many weddings that we haven’t had a chance to blog yet because we have been so busy. I promise as soon as I get through editing, I will do a blog post for each wedding but for now, here is a sneak at what we did this year.

Becca + Joe – Michigan Wedding Photographer – Vision Photography, Inc.

Becca and Joe are such an awesome couple.  They are goofy, adorable and totally in love with each other.  I had the pleasure of getting to know them very well when I photographed a destination for one of their good friends on a Caribbean cruise this past December.  I know, my job is horrible ;o)  We had so much fun zip lining with this duo and getting a true feel for their personalities.

After the cruise we got together for their engagement session which was nothing short of steamy and romantic.  Joe was a big trooper as we hiked through a park on a very windy day to capture an amazing story of their love.

It wasn’t long after that, their wedding day was upon us.  The ceremony and reception were held at the beautiful Longacre House in Farmington Hills.  This was my first time shooting there and let me tell you, it was love at first site.  This venue is small, intimate and has so much charm! Sara and I were in photographer’s heaven!  Not only do they have beautiful gardens and a gorgeous stone wall, but if you walk down a hill in the backyard it’s as if you stepped in to an enchanted forest.  Don’t even get me started on the bridal suite!

Becca is a total babe and rocked her role as a bride ten fold.  She was a show stopper in her gorgeous gown from Gina’s Bridal Boutique in Milford, MI.  I always love working with them!  I also loved all the DIY details from her headband, to her bridesmaids sashes on their dresses.  Everything was perfect!

Enough talk, here are some of my favorites from Becca and Joe’s wedding shot by Sara and I!

Enjoy!

Emmy + Devon – Military Wedding – Michigan Wedding Photographer

There is not one single aspect of this wedding that I don’t adore.  How could anyone not love a military wedding on the most patriotic day of the year?! We had so much fun with this couple and all of the traditions that they incorporated in this amazing day.

I am not going to go into any more details, I am going to let the images tell the story.

Jessy + Ben – Wedding – Michigan Wedding Photographer

What happens when you get high school sweethearts, their friends (all since high school or related) and a family who loves to party together?  You get a whole lot of awesome wrapped up in to one wedding.  Jessy and Ben have such a sweet story.  They went to high school together so obviously their paths crossed but more interesting is, Ben’s brother was dating Jessy’s sister so it was a great excuse for Jessy and Ben to hang out and get to know each other.  Ben’s brother married Jessy’s sister and now Ben and Jessy are married too!  One big happy family is bringing on a whole new meaning!

They started the day at their high school, Our Lady of the Lakes where they tied the knot.  Next we visited a park in Clarkston and then went to their home for some more personal photos, which I LOVED!  After that the party was non stop at White Lake Oaks for the rest of the night.

My second shooter, Richa, and I had an amazing time getting to know these two and their families and were honored to be such an important part of their day.

Here is their story:

Brandon + Kristen – Riviera Maya {Destination Wedding} – Vision Photography, Inc.

Brandon and Kristen are clients who became great friends of mine.  Kristen is a picture fanatic so I see her many times throughout the year.  Who wouldn’t be with a family as gorgeous as theirs?!  I was beyond thrilled when Kristen asked me to photograph her destination nuptials along with her fall reception back here in Michigan.  When she told me the wedding was going to be in Riviera Maya, I was ecstatic!  She told me all of her visions and I knew it would be beautiful.

As the planning continued, Kristen would send me pictures of her Etsy purchases (yes, there were a ton!)  My excitement continued to grow because I could tell this wedding was going to be nothing short of amazing.  She didn’t miss a single detail and pulled off a perfect destination wedding.

On the day of the wedding, the ceremony location had to change and Kristen didn’t mind at all.  Then the rain came after the ceremony to shower the newlyweds with a little bit of luck.  Although these details would have been enough to put any bride into a panic over her day not going “perfectly” Kristen was so calm and happy.  You can really tell a couple in love when all the little things can’t get in the way of their happiness.  It just makes my heart so happy to see this.

During their ceremony, there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd, myself included.  As I went back to start editing the pictures, I cried even more!  Apparently I am more of a sap than I imagined!

I say this all the time, but I really do love my job.  I love photographing love and being able to be a part of something so special that will be remembered forever.

I will just let the pictures tell the rest of the story…

Candace + Mike – The Gem Theatre – Detroit, MI

This wedding was nothing short of a Grand Slam in my opinion.  The bride hit a home run with every single detail and didn’t miss a thing.  There were so many details I wanted to make sure made it into this blog post that I even needed a seventh inning stretch during the prep for this post.  Okay, enough with the baseball lingo (mostly because I don’t know much more, but I do have to give myself a pat on the back for all that I did incorporate!)

Candace and Mike live in Colorado so we did most of our communicating over the phone.  It always makes it a little more challenging when you can’t chat face-to-face, but it was so worth it.  I have been looking forward to this wedding ever since the initial emails where Candace gave me a description of her vision.

We started the day at the beautiful Atheneum hotel in Detroit.  Matching robes, a million details and a gorgeous bride – yup, it was a great start to the day!  Head over the the grooms room and we have bow ties and baseball themed cufflinks.  Hello, photographer’s dream!

The ceremony and reception where both held at the ever-so-charming Gem Theatre in Detroit.  During cocktail hour, the bridal party, Sara and I all headed out on the town.  Lucky for us, there was even a Tiger’s game happening so we had a tun of fun with sports fans and photos at Comerica Park.

I could go on and on about what I loved but I think I am going to stop there and let the pictures speak for themselves…  Play ball! – Jenay
