  1. The Details – These are the focus of this session. The hospital bands, the wrinkly toes, the umbilical cord, the peach fuzz… It may seem like these details will stay for a while so you can soak them in, but the reality is that they change quickly. And more often than not, you are in survival mode and won’t get as much time to lock them into your memory as you think you will.

2. The bond – This chapter of your parenting story is on it’s very first page. How cool is that?! These moments are some of the most important of your entire life. You can now officially hold your baby in your arms. You can see their features, smell them, kiss their cheeks, do skin-to-skin. All of these moments are monumental and deserve to be documented.

I first met Josh and Jordyn when I did a model call looking for an adventurous couple who love to travel and aren’t shy in front of the camera. This is exactly who these two are and I’m so happy they submitted an application. Our first session was in Hocking Hills and it was just as dreamy as you can imagine. I’ll have to go back and blog that session soon!

You can only guess my excitement when they told me they were getting married in Mexico and wanted me to be there for their big day. If I could be a full-time destination wedding photographer, I would. I could go on about how beautiful it was, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

We are ready to announce our newest option for our clients! We’ve been wanting to introduce this to you for a while now and I love how they turned out! The “Milestone Collage Background” is now available for anyone on our milestone collections. When the time comes for the 1-year session (queue the tears) we will print photos from all of your previous sessions with us to display as a story in the background of one of your baby’s set-ups. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate this big milestone than by being able to look back on all the moments we captured before. Think of it as a visual story from the maternity or newborn session up to where they are now. And icing on the cake, you get to take all of those photos home with you!

Every once in a while, we have to jump in front of the camera and put ourselves in your shoes. This requires us to show our faces more often so you can get to know your photographers better! We recently had a branding session done and it was a blast. We laughed, posed, and then, things got awkward. The goal was to get a fresh set of content with a spring vibe and individual images of each of us. Here are a few favorites of the group.

Four Reasons You Need a Simple Session in Your Life – Rochester, Michigan Family Photographer

Simple sessions became popular a few years ago and they aren’t going away anytime soon. These sessions are done in a photography studio on a simple white seamless background. Subjects are asked to wear white, and for good reason. It keeps everything simple. If the modern simplistic photos aren’t enough of a reason, I am going to give you four more to help you understand why you need this session in your life.

  1. These sessions are timeless. There isn’t any trendy decor (although I love my boho vibes) or edits (cough, cough, muted film edits). These are simply black and white photos that will never go out of style.

2. The focus is simply on the subject. These sessions are sometimes referred to as “personality sessions” and for good reason! The entire session is focused on the expressions and capturing details details and personality.

3. Outfit selection is a breeze. There is no need to stress about coordinating colors or patterns. You don’t have to decide if you’re going to pretend you always walk around in flowy gowns versus leggings and a sweatshirt. Just throw on some jeans and a white top and you’re good to go!

4. These images make excellent wall decor. Since they are simple and black and white, they will go perfectly in almost any room. So many of our clients blow these up and hang them as pieces of art (because that’s what they truly are) to showcase in their home.

Welcome to the Vision Family, Jack!

This handsome boy brought along his big fur-brother, Calvin to his session and I am so glad he did! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a pup more proud. He is going to be the best big brother. Jack was a sleepy piece of perfection and I love all of images we were able to capture during this session. 3 Tips for Personalizing your Maternity Session – Metro Detroit Maternity Photographer

With over a decade of experience in newborn and family photography, we have a few tips on how to help you personalize your maternity session.

Here are Three Tips on How to Personalize Your Pregnancy Photoshoot

  1. Bring in an ultrasound picture or photo strip – This is one of the safest ways to make sure you never lose or damage your ultrasound pictures. Plus it makes the sweetest prop for you to hold, second to holding your baby bump

2. Bring cute baby clothes and/or shoes – This can be a simple onesie or something more personalized with a nickname or even baby’s name if you can commit to that before baby is born!

3. If you’re married, incorporate something from the wedding or from dating – Afterall, its because two people fell in love that the little one is on their way so paying homage to the relationship will be something sweet that your child will appreciate more. At least once a year, I am lucky enough to travel down to one of the top-rated beaches in the world, Siesta Key, Florida. This title was given to the beaches in Siesta Key because of the sand so white, it almost looks like a blanket of snow. With a westward-facing beach, the sunsets are so breathtaking that leaving the parking lot often involves waiting in a line of traffic. While this trip is purely vacation for this Michigan-based photographer, I can’t help myself but want to photograph here. So…
