The Details – These are the focus of this session. The hospital bands, the wrinkly toes, the umbilical cord, the peach fuzz… It may seem like these details will stay for a while so you can soak them in, but the reality is that they change quickly. And more often than not, you are in survival mode and won’t get as much time to lock them into your memory as you think you will.

2. The bond – This chapter of your parenting story is on it’s very first page. How cool is that?! These moments are some of the most important of your entire life. You can now officially hold your baby in your arms. You can see their features, smell them, kiss their cheeks, do skin-to-skin. All of these moments are monumental and deserve to be documented.

3. The Story – I am guessing that you, the reader, don’t have photos like this from when you were born. But I am pretty confident that you wish you did. I first met Josh and Jordyn when I did a model call looking for an adventurous couple who love to travel and aren’t shy in front of the camera. This is exactly who these two are and I’m so happy they submitted an application. Our first session was in Hocking Hills and it was just as dreamy as you can imagine. I’ll have to go back and blog that session soon!

You can only guess my excitement when they told me they were getting married in Mexico and wanted me to be there for their big day. If I could be a full-time destination wedding photographer, I would. I could go on about how beautiful it was, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Every once in a while, we have to jump in front of the camera and put ourselves in your shoes. This requires us to show our faces more often so you can get to know your photographers better! We recently had a branding session done and it was a blast. We laughed, posed, and then, things got awkward. The goal was to get a fresh set of content with a spring vibe and individual images of each of us. Here are a few favorites of the group.

Four Reasons You Need a Simple Session in Your Life – Rochester, Michigan Family Photographer

Simple sessions became popular a few years ago and they aren’t going away anytime soon. These sessions are done in a photography studio on a simple white seamless background. Subjects are asked to wear white, and for good reason. It keeps everything simple. If the modern simplistic photos aren’t enough of a reason, I am going to give you four more to help you understand why you need this session in your life.

These sessions are timeless. There isn’t any trendy decor (although I love my boho vibes) or edits (cough, cough, muted film edits). These are simply black and white photos that will never go out of style.

2. The focus is simply on the subject. These sessions are sometimes referred to as “personality sessions” and for good reason! The entire session is focused on the expressions and capturing details details and personality.

3. Outfit selection is a breeze. There is no need to stress about coordinating colors or patterns. You don’t have to decide if you’re going to pretend you always walk around in flowy gowns versus leggings and a sweatshirt. Just throw on some jeans and a white top and you’re good to go!

4. These images make excellent wall decor. Since they are simple and black and white, they will go perfectly in almost any room. So many of our clients blow these up and hang them as pieces of art (because that’s what they truly are) to showcase in their home.

This handsome boy brought along his big fur-brother, Calvin to his session and I am so glad he did! I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a pup more proud. He is going to be the best big brother. Jack was a sleepy piece of perfection and I love all of images we were able to capture during this session. Siesta Key Sessions – Destination Photographer

At least once a year, I am lucky enough to travel down to one of the top-rated beaches in the world, Siesta Key, Florida. This title was given to the beaches in Siesta Key because of the sand so white, it almost looks like a blanket of snow. With a westward-facing beach, the sunsets are so breathtaking that leaving the parking lot often involves waiting in a line of traffic. While this trip is purely vacation for this Michigan-based photographer, I can’t help myself but want to photograph here. So…

This shoot was SO FUN. Hell, this whole weekend was a blast. This Is Sammi. She’s also my BFF of over 20 years. We took her to Chicago one weekend and surprised her with every detail. She literally had no idea what was going to happen all weekend. This bathtub shoot Is a TikTok trend and it just fits her so well so the Airbnb we picked had to have an epic bathtub. I also had a full wardrobe surprised for her too and she got to pick what she wanted to wear. We took her to Gold Plaited Beauty bar for the “Camera Ready” option and I don’t think anyone would argue, that they completely delivered.

This Is 40 and she is a vibe. Do you have a birthday coming? Or something you want to celebrate? Or do you want to do something like this for your BFF? Lets chat!

Josh + Melissa- San Marino Club Wedding- Troy, Michigan.

Josh and Melissa are absolutely adorable together. They share a big passion for running- so much so that they incorporated it into their wedding day and Josh even says that running had a part in how he fell in love with Melissa.

From Josh: “Melissa & I share a love of running. I fell in love during our first winter of long run Sunday’s together. We spent many hours on backroads and metro parks.”

We started the day off at Melissa’s parents’ house where the girls were getting ready. It was a beautiful Fall day outside!

Melissa was stunning in her fitted lace dress. I loved the beaded sheer sleeves. So gorgeous! The girls wore short navy dresses that flattered everyone so well!

Melissa’s mother allowed us to take this gorgeous chaise lounge sofa outside for some bridal portraits and we were so glad for it! How gorgeous is this bride?!

Josh got ready with the boys at the church as they awaited the ceremony. Josh looked so handsome in his suit and we LOVED the boutonnieres!

The ceremony was a traditional catholic mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The look on Josh’s face as he saw his beautiful bride coming down the aisle- to die for!

The bouquets were handmade by the bride and her family/friends and were so stunning! The beautiful bright oranges, yellows, purples, and reds were perfect for fall and Melissa’s soft pink bouquet of dahlias was absolutely gorgeous.

We went to Dodge #4 State Park, a beautiful piece of property that sits along Cass Lake in Waterford to take photos. The vibrant orange leaves gave the perfect Fall look. We found numerous tall grassy fields that were the perfect backdrop!

Josh and Melissa’s love of running had to be a part of their day of course! The couple slipped out of their fancy shoes and into their favorite running shoes for some photos. So much fun!

Josh and Melissa’s reception decor was so adorable! Rustic fall decor of pumpkins, wood and gold were beautiful along with small hints of Michigan love!

During Josh and Melissa’s first dance, the wedding party along with other friends and family surrounded the two in a hand-held circle as they closed out their dance. So much love going around- it truly warmed the heart! Melissa mentioned it was one of her favorite parts of the day.

From the bride: “We were surrounded by our favorite people but Josh was the only one I noticed.”

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. MacGregor! You can truly feel the love between the two of you in your presence and we were so happy to be able to capture your special memories!
